From 2010-2013 Colin and Victoria led co-design projects with Emmaus and students from the Welsh School of Architecture. In 2010 they worked with companions, staff and volunteers from Emmaus Bristol to develop a brief and concept designs for the conversion of a disused pumping station in mid-Wales into a retreat for companions. In 2011 they worked with Emmaus Bristol – investigating the role of design intervention in flows of wasted and low value resources. Students and companions co-developed designs and built 1:1 prototypes for upcycled furniture using surplus materials – one of which went into production. In 2013 they worked with Emmaus Gloucester and Emmaus South Wales to develop concept designs for the conversion of a disused building in Bridgend into the first Emmaus community in Wales.
